Suitable for: This event is suitable for academic staff and PGRs who teach, and SES staff who help set up assessments. Top Hat can be used to deliver synchronous and synchronous tests to students. Most of the question types can be auto-graded.

This course builds on the foundations of Course 1 (Top Hat for Assessment) and shows staff how to set up a live monitored test environment where certain behaviours (i.e. taking a screenshot, trying to open another browser) can cause a student to be locked out of a test. The course also covers how to invigilate a monitored live test.

Pre-requisite: Top Hat for Assessment

Duration: 45 Minutes

  • Understanding the monitored test settings
  • Pre-test check list (disabling gradebook, communicating with students etc.)
  • Assigning the test to students – what it looks like for students and professors
  • How to read the monitoring report during the assessment
  • Troubleshooting and best practice

Before attending the course, we recommend you create a Top Hat staff account if you do not already have one, this will enable you to follow along during the course. Guidance on creating an account can be found in the IT knowledge base.
