Video content for use in teaching

Guidance on where to find open content for use in teaching and how to ensure that it is correctly attributed can be found on the Library website. Guidance on embedding content into Minerva can be found here. The University also provides access to video content which can be used in teaching via the following platforms:

Lecture capture recordings

Mediasite is the University’s media management system and can be accessed directly at mymedia.leeds.ac.uk or via Minerva, on or off-campus. Mediasite is where a user’s digital content, including lecture capture recordings, is stored for review, editing and publishing. To support students to view lecture capture recordings offline whilst working remotely, it has been agreed temporarily that students can be permitted to download Mediasite content from module areas. This is being run as an opt-in service and can be requested by following the information detailed here. This process is subject to change and will be reviewed regularly.

VideoLeeds

VideoLeeds is the University’s video showcase platform and is a way to easily watch and showcase content, as well as searching for specific content from different Faculties. Watch this short tutorial on VideoLeeds.

Video content from the courses developed by the Digital Education Service is available on VideoLeeds and can be used in your teaching. Full list of courses and channels.

Box of Broadcasts

Box of Broadcasts (BoB) is a shared, online, off-air TV and radio recording service for UK higher and further education institutions. It is the result of a partnership between BUFVC, Jisc and the BBC. BoB enables staff and students to access over 1 million broadcast programmes from over 60 channels, including all BBC TV and radio content since 2007. No registration is necessary, simply log in with your Leeds username and password on or off-campus. For more information, please see the Digital Education Service website.
